Mom,you are amazing just the way you are

“Welcome to Parenthood ” – exclaimed the OB/GYN to us 4 years ago, when me and my husband were holding our newborn son with joy and curiosity. We weren’t really understood meaning of parenthood, still not fully aware about it sometimes ūüė¨

I bet most of us managing being a parent some how on our ways. It is always interesting  to know how other parents managing their days with kids and at the same time with other life responsibilities.

Have you ever felt guilty when watching a another well dressed and trimmed ladyIs rushing to work ¬†and holding a ¬†kid at same age of your child? Don’t be . You don’t know that lady’s inner feeling. Maybe she wants to be a mother like you who does all house chores and stays at home with kids More than anything plays with her child everyday. Maybe she doesn’t have an opportunity to stay at home and be with her kids.

I really want the every single woman, mother fells proud of herself. Not to compare herself or her kids with others’

Our kids love us just the way we are

End year gift for teachers

I can’t believe it is June !!! It feels like we are in the rocket and flew around the earth in 1 second ūüėā. When my son started the school I made up a plan, that we gona do handmade gift to his teachers. I was searching for some ideas about what teachers need. I mean really need and use what we give, not just a gift that stays on the corner. So, I come up with the idea of making crayon bottle that teachers can use to keep their pen. And gift card from amazon. During my research I read that most states teachers are underpaid. They also use their own money  to  buy school supplies sometimes. That’s why I thought crayons will be great gift, so teachers can use it later on. So, I didn’t glue it to the jar but used a rubber band in order to keep them together .

Here are the things you need to make your crayon pen holder

  • Empty baby fruit pur√©e  jar
  • Box of crayons
  • 1 rubber band
  • Piece of yarn
  • 2 sticks/ pencil
  • Ribbons for decoration
  • Small size cloth pin
  1. Clean the jar
  2. Put the rubber band around the jar
  3. Ask your child to help insert the crayons ( it will be fun)
  4. Put the popsicle sticks on each side
  5. Insert the cloth pin through the yarn. It will help the pin hang straight
  6. Tie ribbon on top of rubber band for decoration

Another great gift idea  to let your child write a thank you letter to their teachers. Believe me  it is precious for teachers knowing how their students and parent appreciate their hard work. I got the idea and free print from this blog

DIY Strawberry jam

I am sure almost all families with kids already had gone or going to strawberry picking. We also go strawberry picking every year and we really enjoy it. Especially, it is joyful seeing my older one’s excitement every time he sees juicy red ripped strawberries under the leaves. He LOVESSS strawberries. Usually, we pick up to 10 pounds. ( I know it is a lot for 3 people).

Since it is organic, if I don’t take care of them at the same day of picking, they get spoiled. That’s why, as soon as we get home I will start sorting them for 3 sorts. The first one will be well ripped  and got squashed a bit. It is usually under the boxes. I do jam from them.

The second sort will be for keeping in the freezer. It also well ripped but no any damage. I cut of the bottom and soak them in apple cider vinegar water ( 0.5 cup 5% apple cider vinegar / 1 gallon water) for about 5 min. Then I put them on paper towel to get dried. After that I put them in ziplock ( freezer bag) and straight to the freezer. I use them for pies, ice cream and smoothies.

The third sort will be for eating. These I also wash with vinegar water, well dried and keep it in refrigerator. It will be good up to 1 week.

Let’s start with making a strawberry jam.

  • 1 bowl strawberries
  • 0.5 cup of sugar
  • 1 cup of  tap water
  • 2 oz lemon juice
  • Mason jar

  1. Well wash the strawberries and cut them in cube shape
  2. Add all the ingredients in the pot
  3. Put in high heat until it boils  then keep in middle heat for 1 hr or till you see bubble on top. ( please watch the video for exact appearance)
  4. Turn off the heat and let it cool down
  5. Put in mason jar or glass jar
  6. Store in refrigerator for up to 6 month

  1. If you want more loose add 2 cups of water.
  2. To check if it is ready: in cold tap water drop some jam, if it forms little circle in the bottom of your dish, it means  it is ready.
  3. Let the jam get cool down in the pot. Don’t try to lick it. It will be very hot.

5 summer activities for kids

I can’t believe it is almost summer. My son’s teacher handed us the end of year celebration paper. And I look at it, it is after 2 weeks!!! . Boy, what we gona do after school? He really needs lots of activities to engage. He likes to be around other kids. So keeping him at home is not a best choice. Besides, I and hubby works. We don’t want to hire babysitter. And camps also not a choice. Unfortunately, the camps for kids age 1-5 are expensive. I can’t blame, kids on that age need lot of effort to take care of. I call them walking danger lol. In 2 seconds anything can happen. I can’t imagine how they think that fast to do something ?

Anyways, I was so nervous and tried to come up a plan and make our summer schedule. Of course I dig in some infos on internet and asked to mom friends for ideas.

Thank god I was able to find some affordable or free activities that is close by.

Here is the list

Lactation cookies

Do you think your breastmilk is not enough and your baby fusses more than usual? If you have that instinct, take an action. Some people or doctors might said “don’t worry about it” ( which is their favorite word). But you are right.   You know your baby better than anyone else. You are the one who stands next to him/her more than anyone else does.

Unfortunately, majority moms struggle how to increase milk supply. And end up adding formula which will cause more problem. Having both breastmilk and formula may cause fussiness in some babies. More than that, some kids will develop eczema, colic, constipation or diarrhea.

From my experience ideally babies need to be fully breastfeed until 3-4 month at least. During that time their tiny gastrointestinal system will develop and gets little stronger. Besides they get immunity from mother’s milk . And will be strong enough to fight of infections.

So how we can increase milk flow natural way? I dig some info about it when I was pregnant to our second boy.  It showed that brewers yeast, flax seed, oatmeal and peanuts boost up milk supply. And I also found a great cookie recipe that can be used based on the ingreadients above.

  • 0.5 cup flour
  • 0.5 cup oatmeal ( still cut or instant)
  • 0.5 cup sugar( you can put least if you add chocolate chips)
  • 1egg
  • 4 oz softened butter
  • 2 tbs bio yogurt
  • 1 tsp brewer’s yeast
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 0.5 tsp cinnamon
  • Chocolate chips for your preference

  1. Mix the dry ingredients in one bowl; oatmeal, flour, sugar, brewers yeast

 2.  In other bowl whisk the egg with baking powder add 2 tbsp bio yogurt . Mix it well

3.  Add the egg solution to dry ingredients and add the butter.

4.    Mix them all together.

5.    Add the chocolate chips.
6.    Neat it well.

7.    Keep in the refrigerator for 20 minutes.   8.    Preheat the oven for 320* degrees.

9.    Make small balls and list on parchment              paper on the pan

10.    Bake in 320* degrees for 15-20 minutes

  • You might taste little bittery because of brewers yeast. That’s why I suggest you to add some fruits or chocolate chips to mask the bitterness.
  • If the dough looks more dry after sitting a side you can add 2-3 tbsp water. The oats retain fluid and may cause the dryness.
  • Also I like to add half/half flour/oats because oatmeal also helps to make more milk, but if you don’t like more oats you can add least than 0.5 cups
  • You can store them in air tight container at 60-70* degrees or simply at room temperature. Trust me it does help to produce more milk .

Mother’s Day DIY

It is Mother’s Day yeayyy. Since I became a mother I haven’t had  a time to celebrate Mother’s Day as I wanted . Because, every year it was finals week ugh. I was too busy with my study and didn’t even feel like celebrating anything. But, this year I eagerly waited for it .

The first thing I did was I went to art class with my little boy.  There we paint the flower pot. It was fun and relaxing.

Video here

Then my big boy Dior surprised me with his cute flower craft. He even wrote “Happy Mother’s Day ” himself.  It was the best present ever I got. I was so happy and even cried a bit. It was a happy cry lol. I am really proud of him.

The day before Mother’s Day I decided to make a craft with kids for myself. I was checking the Facebook and Pinterest . And I love the idea of making a jewelry keeper from oven baked clay. I wanted to put the link but couldn’t find the original person who made it first. So if you want to watch other options just type oven baked clay DIY on Pinterest . You will find several great ones.

The least but not the last, present from hubby was nice family lunch all together, withought using a phone ūüėā
